United Way of Forsyth County is a local,
autonomous organization whose Board of Directors as well as Dawson
Counties Advisory Board makes decisions based on the needs of each of
their local communities. The staff and volunteers are your friends,
neighbors, and co-workers with a vested interest in Forsyth and Dawson
County. Less than 9% of funds are spent on overhead expenses,
so more dollars go back into the community to help others. Money raised in your community stays in your community!
About Us
United Way of Forsyth County, which was founded in 1989, has
been working for more than sixteen years to help bridge the gap between the
needs that exist, the services that are provided, and the cost of
making those services available to the folks who need them.
In the fall of 1991, United Way of Forsyth County held their first
campaign, raising $125,000. Since that time, United Way of Forsyth County has raised and allocated over
$5 Million dollars — raised from generous community members and invested
back into the health and human service programs that help neighbors and
friends find answers to the crises they are facing.
Today, we remain committed to our goal of continuing that support and
expanding our programs to include raising awareness of the needs and
services that exist within our communities, to continued measurement of the
priority of needs, to facilitating the formation of partnerships and
collaborations to address unmet needs, and to cultivate greater support of
local providers through volunteer coordination efforts.
