VISTA Volunteer – Information & Referral Database Specialist (United Way of Forsyth County)

United Way of Forsyth County announces a position for a VISTA Volunteer. This is a one-year, full-time volunteer position with a monthly stipend of $1,026 per month. At the end of the one-year period and completion of the project, the VISTA Volunteer will have the opportunity to receive an educational award in the amount of $5,920 (to be used toward student loans or specific educational expenses) or an end of service cash stipend in the amount of $1,800. The primary function of the Information & Referral Database Specialist is to develop and market an
in-depth community resource guide for Health and Human Services in Forsyth County.

Qualifications:

  • Some secondary education is desirable

  • Experience in human services such as non-profit, public administration and/or community research is desirable

  • Knowledge of the scope and activities of public and private health and social service agencies, faith-based organizations and public assistance programs in Forsyth County

  • Experience with data gathering techniques including oral interviews to compile information

  • Strong technical facility with Microsoft Office, databases and other software systems

  • Attention to detail, excellent proofreading skills, results-oriented and self-motivated

  • Access to a car, active driver’s license and car insurance. VISTA Volunteer will be reimbursed at current IRS rate for mileage outside daily commute to and from work

Family Service Coordinator (Sisu) - www.mysisu.org/employment

Position provides families at Sisu with support, resources, information, training and crisis intervention as needed in order to strengthen and sustain families.  Position is primarily a school year position, requiring 30-35 hours per week with occasional evening and weekend activities and 3-4 weeks in the summer.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work and/or Psychology

  • Experience in a school setting serving children with disabilities and their families

  • LMSW or LCSW preferred

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred

Executive Director (CASA of Forsyth County) – www.forsythcountycasa.org

CASA of Forsyth County seeks an Executive Director who will work with the Board of Directors to meet the mission of the CASA organization and ensure effective advocacy for dependent children in Forsyth County. Candidate will manage and direct a staff of paid professionals and administrative staff; identify, secure and maintain funding; develop fundraising plan alongside CASA Board of Directors; serve as spokesperson for the organization; work with Board to identify, recruit and retain volunteers and board members; develop and implement short and long-term planning; passionate and have concern for children’s safety, well-being and permanency relating to child welfare.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in the area of social work, psychology, business, public administration or other related fields

  • Minimum of 3-years’ experience in the administration of a volunteer, non-profit or public service agency and/or significant experience in administration of a program or organization involved in human social services

  • Previous experience working with volunteers, knowledge and understanding of child abuse/neglect, families in crisis and other social services skills is preferred and given priority consideration

Family Advocate/Case Manager (Family Promise of Forsyth County) – www.familypromiseofforsythcounty.org

Family Promise of Forsyth County is seeking a full-time, detailed-oriented Family Advocate.  The
full-time position is primarily responsible for working directly with families who are experiencing homelessness to empower and assist them in achieving long-term stability and sustainable independence.  Family Advocate will serve as primary contact for families participating in or recently graduating the program; serve as primary contact for referring agencies; screen potential participant candidates in collaboration with Executive Director; be a viable team member by investing in all agency activities and functions; collect and maintain data and case notes; understand and practice appropriate confidentiality; and be a positive representative of the agency within the community.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human service or behavioral science field

  • Experience working with children and families

  • Flexibility as the job requires some evening and weekend hours as well as some after-hour on call responsibilities

  • Computer literacy, including word processing and excel spread sheets

  • Organized and detail oriented and possess good communication and writing skills

  • Support the agency’s mission statement, organizational values and beliefs, and its quality assurance plan
