Your Investment

United Way of Forsyth County is committed to making a difference in the lives of those in need! Undesignated dollars raised during our annual campaign is distributed from our general fund through the allocations and priority needs funding process. The Allocation Committee is made up of volunteers within our community. These volunteers are your friends, neighbors and co-workers with a vested interest in your county. They make the decisions for funding based on the needs of the local community. The allocation report for 2006 is below.

Priority Needs Grant Recipients

Each year one-time grants are awarded to local health and human service organizations/programs in addition to our Partner Agencies.  Below is a list of local health and human service organizations that were awarded funding for their projects.

ABBA House

$5,490, $1,440 to purchase two phone lines for the "Customer Service Training" program.

$2,550 to purchase supplies and equipment (computers) for the Computer Lab.

$1,500 to help with the construction of the Computer Lab.
 

American Red Cross

$6,320, $1,200 to purchase two AED Trainers.

$2,070 to purchase 6 sets of CPR Manikins.

$2,050 to purchase a DVD projector and laptop.

$1,000 to cater the Senior Citizen Prom.
 

Big Brothers Big Sisters

$5,200 for the “Horizon Broadening Experiences” program and the "Quality Mentor Training" program.
 

Boy Scouts of America

$3,922 to be used for the "Soccer and Scouting Hispanic Outreach" program.
 

CASA of Forsyth County, Inc.

$5,000 for the "Forsyth Against the Methamphetamine Epidemic (FAME)" project.
 

Cedar Hill Enrichment Center

$5,000 for the "Conversations Between the Generations" program. Documentation of the number of participants and any receipts related to the program must be submitted.
 

Challenged Child and Friends, Inc.

$5,000 to purchase supplies and equipment for the Sensory Treatment room and the "Multi Sensory Program" program.
 

Collaborations for Resiliency in Children, Inc. - Forsyth County

$4,000 for the "Structured Sensory Intervention for Traumatized Children, Adolescents and Parents" program.

Crossroads Foundation, Inc.

$3,000 for the “Winds of Change” program.  Documentation of the course description and instructor's certification/qualification must be submitted.
 

Cumming Civitan Club

$1,200 to purchase the Audio and PA equipment to use during events with Special Education students.
 

Forsyth County Disability Coalition

$3,300 to help purchase two handicapped vans.
 

Forsyth County Public Schools

$5,000 to help support the 9 parent forums on three topics:  Adolescent Unhealthy Behaviors, Bullying and Cyberbullying and Teen Driving by enabling the School System to mail a letter and flyer to all middle and high school students.  United Way requests that acknowledgement of this funding be on each mailing or at the forum's.
 

Forsyth Central High School

$1,427 to be used for the "RVI/DISCOVER" program.
 

Forsyth County Family Haven

$2,600 to provide a Counselor for the "Children's Support" program.
 

Forsyth County Senior Center

$9,602; $4,987 to be used for the "Alzheimer's Respite Care" program.

$4,615 to be used for the "Friends of Seniors" visitor program.
 

Forsyth County Special Olympics

$5,000 to purchase supplies and equipment and promote community awareness.
 

GA Mountain Community Services

$2,500 to be used for the "Behavioral Health, Employment and Developmental Disabilities" program.
 

Girls on the Run

$3,000 for the printing and distribution of materials for the 2006/2007 operating season.
 

Grayson’s Gift

$5,000 to be used for the "Grayson's Family of Friends" social and recreation fund.
 

Habitat for Humanity NCG

$5,000 to be used towards the land acquisition for two homes currently being built" one to finish in December 2006 and the other to finish in March 2007.

Hall Family Initiative Residences, Inc.

$4,000 to be used for food, supplies and equipment for the mentally challenged residents at the Cumming Home.
 

Keep Forsyth Beautiful

$2,000 to be used for the "Partners Against Litter" program.
 

L.E.A.D.E.R.

$5,000 to be used for student scholarships.  Documentation of the registration for the student scholarships must be submitted.
 

Leadership Forsyth, Inc.

$5,100 to be used for one Hispanic, one Nonprofit and one Senior scholarship to the Leadership Forsyth program, Youth Leadership Forsyth classroom leadership training workbooks and Youth Leadership Forsyth II start-up program.
 

Miracle League

$3,500 to be used for softball scholarships.
 

North Forsyth High School

$2,300 to be used for the "RVI/DISCOVER" program.
 

No Longer Bound

$5,000 to be used for the upgrade of their current telephone system.  Invoice/quote must be submitted.
 

South Forsyth High School

$2,469 to be used for the "RVI/DISCOVER" program.
 

The Place of Forsyth County, Inc.

$1,795 to purchase and install one Powerheart AED.
 

Young Life of Forsyth County

$4,000 to be used for Camp Scholarships.
